Joseph C. Noto, a Bergen County Divorce lawyer and the NJ Council of Collaborative Practice Groups’ legislative representative for the North Jersey Collaborative Law Group, said he and several other Council legislative members have had several meetings with very prominent New Jersey politicians who said they will be willing to co-sponsor the New Jersey Family Collaborative Law Bill when introduced this coming year in NJ. The essential parts of the bill when submitted will allow collaboratively trained attorneys to have by law “confidentiality” in the collaborative law process and not now “solely by contract” in the Particpation Agreement and to recognize the right to “disqualification” enabling a collaborative divorce lawyer the ability to limit its scope of representation by law.
